Janah Hernandez was thrilled when she found out that she would be taking home not one but three student awards at the 2013 Seattle ADDY Awards March 21. Janah, who is scheduled to graduate this month with a BFA in Graphic Design from IADT-Seattle, earned two silver student ADDYs and one gold award.
The gold award came for her “Seattle Savors Cuisine & Wine Cookbook” design, shown above. This piece will now compete in the Northwest District ADDYs.
Brandon Walker, one of her graphic design instructors and her motivator, along with Laura Nielsen, Campus Director of Career Services, were there cheering her on as her work was recognized in a room full of creative professionals.
On why she entered the competition, Janah said, "As a senior student, I wanted to make a statement in the creative community before I graduated, and this was a great opportunity to introduce myself. In addition, with the support of my loved ones as well as Brandon Walker and my colleagues, I was motivated to enter the contest."
The American Advertising Federation Student ADDY Awards Competition is a unique national awards program designed for college students. Work entered at the local level can move up to the regional and national judging, just like the work entered by professionals across the country.
