Be Creative When Considering Advertising Careers

Advertising careers are a wonderful way for innovative people to put their minds to good use and enjoy a job that is fulfilling and rewarding! Advertising incorporates marketing objectives with artistic creativity. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising can give you the edge you need to help you be successful. The potential job outlook for advertisers in the next few years is excellent. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of advertising managers is expected to increase by 12 percent through 2016. With technological developments in TV, radio and the Internet, there are more places and more opportunities for companies to advertise. Within this field, there are several different advertising careers available.

Account Managing

Advertising careers in Account Managing are exciting and challenging. An Account Manager is the client’s representative at the advertising agency, and the agency’s representative to the client. Successful account managers will get to know their client and their client’s business thoroughly.

Account Planning

Account Planning is another one of the advertising careers available to graduates with an Advertising Degree. Account Planners are responsible for considering the perspective of the consumers when advertising is being developed. The Account Planner works closely with the creative thinking team to ensure that consumers will react positively to their advertisement.

Creative

Working on the Creative Team is another great opportunity for the more innovative college graduates looking for advertising careers. The Creative Team develops new ideas, images, and words which will make up commercials and ads. This team consists of copywriters and art directors. Copywriters assist in editing, proofreading, and writing information in advertisements. Art directors prepare images and layouts for ads.

Media

The Media Department is responsible for placing advertising in the appropriate media spots where it will be viewed by target consumers. With technological advances and the new and innovative ways consumers can be contacted, a job in the Media Department will be exciting and challenging.

Marketing

Students may also find advertising careers with the Marketing Department of an ad agency. The Marketing Department is responsible for understanding the wants, desires, and concerns of the consumers, and applying that to the advertisement design. Interactive marketers are a new addition to ad agencies: they work with a company website to help make advertising an interactive effort, allowing the consumers to seek out the companies they need.
