International Academy of Design and Technology-Tampa Hosts Artistik Magazine Launch Party and Design Gala
September 23, 2010
Tampa (Sept. 23, 2010) – The International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT)-Tampa is proud to host ARTISTIK Magazine's official launch party – a night filled with flash fashion shows, dramatic art, photography and skilled designers on Friday, Oct. 15 from 8-11 p.m. at Nova 535 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Along with an exclusive first-look at the new Regional Design Showcase edition of ARTISTIK Magazine, guests will have the opportunity to view work from 12 of IADT's most talented students and alumni from the Tampa, Orlando and Online campuses.
"Our students and graduates are creating some unbelievable work, and we are thrilled to give them some exposure in the community," said Karen O'Donnell, IADT-Tampa President. "We work with our students to provide them with the skills they need to be successful in the industry, and it's exciting to see that work displayed in ARTISTIK."
Throughout the evening, guests will view exhibits of student work from a variety of disciplines including graphic design, film, interior design, photography and game design. Models will circulate throughout the venue showcasing garments created by fashion design students, set to a backdrop of music.
Guests will be given a special glimpse into the making of ARTISTIK Magazine through a new documentary, which will feature interviews with students and alumni who have been part of the staff or have been featured in past issues. The cover artist for the Winter 2011 edition, IADT-Tampa student Jesse Adair, will be showcased and exhibit his two opposing styles of photography — horror and landscape.
"With each issue, I am constantly amazed at the talent of our students and the product they deliver," said Josef Mancino, editor-in-chief of ARTISTIK. "The launch party will be a great opportunity for our students to celebrate their work and demonstrate their talent."
Created in 2007, ARTISTIK is an art and design magazine that features the outstanding work of students and professionals from the Career Education Corporation family of art and design schools. This includes Brooks Institute, Collins College, Harrington College of Design and the ten IADT campuses throughout the United States. Each issue features artwork and articles that highlight the success of art and design students. The magazine began as a class project at the IADT-Tampa campus and is now distributed nationally. Providing an opportunity for student interaction and promotion of graduate success, ARTISTIK is full of inspirational content and strong student and alumni work. Informational columns and tutorials written by industry professionals round out the publication.
