IADT-San Antonio Celebrates Growing Design Community with Inaugural Student Art Show
July 9, 2012
July 9, 2012 (San Antonio, TX) – The International Academy of Design and Technology - San Antonio (IADT) will host the Inaugural Student Art Show on Saturday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be hosted at R Gallery (110 – 124 E. LaChapelle, 78204) in the South Flores Art District.
Students and instructors from the International Academy of Design and Technology will fill the gallery with myriad forms of design, creativity and art, from triptychs and portraits to paintings and 3-D pieces.
Featured artists will include Juan Ramos, IADT Design and Technology Chair; Scott Cooper, IADT Lead Graphic Instructor; Paul Vaughn, IADT Web Design and Development Chair; and many more.
“San Antonio culture is different than any other culture that I have lived in. I’ve lived in New York and Los Angeles, and it never really seemed that the culture played a part in the art community,” said Cooper. “But in San Antonio, the culture plays a big part to make art a part of what our city is. The end goal is to create true art and educate people of all ages to appreciate the passion and identity of the creative mindset. Having local artists like Alex Rubio who will nurture the artistic community gives the city a positive reputation.”
The show will feature art from students including Henry Keller, Randy Solis, Kenneth Cooper, Artis Owens, Robert Kemmerer, Nyk Smith, Danielle Carper, Arthur Pena, Jovan Hoffman and Sergio Guzman. Members of the faculty will also be showcasing their artistic talents, with designs by Juan Ramos, Scott Cooper, Wardell Picquet, Justin Schneider, Russell Stephenson, Michelle Love, Vicki Stephenson, Paul Vaughn, Adriana Garcia and Jenni Klein.
