IADT Designers Will Feature Fashion Inspired by Selena Quintanilla-Perez

SAN ANTONIO (September 2, 2010) – The International Academy of Design and Technology in San Antonio (IADT-San Antonio) has announced the production of Celebrando Estilo Art and Fashion Show. The event will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through a brilliant showcase of art and fashion with designs inspired by Selena Quintanilla-Perez. The show will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at La Villita Assembly Hall (408 Villita St., 78205) at 6:30 p.m.

Celebrando Estilo will be hosted by Delisi Araceli Duarte, Miss Latina World 2009. Art and fashion designs created by IADT-San Antonio students will display the deep roots of the diverse Hispanic culture with a special tribute to the memorable fashions of the beloved singing sensation and fashion icon, Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Proceeds from the show will benefit non-profit organizations, The Selena Foundation and Career Education Scholarship Fund (CESF).

“Selena will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family, friends and fans,” said Fashion Program Chair Cynthia Rangel. “We are honored to have her family join us for this special tribute and look forward to highlighting vibrant fashion and art designs in our celebration of Hispanic Heritage.”

The Selena Foundation offers the motivation that every child needs to complete their education, to live moral lives, to love their families, to respect human life and to sing whatever song they were born to sing. CESF is dedicated to providing both need-based and merit-based scholarships to qualified students who are attending one of its many participating institutions. Tickets are $20 presale and can be purchased by calling 210.530.9449. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $30.
