Local Academy Offers New Bachelor Degree Program

Fashion Design and Merchandising Program Raises the Bar at IADT-Detroit
TROY, Mich. (March 1, 2010) – The International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT-Detroit), announced today it will offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. The new program broadly focuses on providing students the opportunity to develop and expand skills in the area of business and retail management.
"We are enhancing our programming and providing our students an opportunity to prepare for their futures," said Program Chair of Fashion Design Julie Ann Patterson. "Our new bachelor degree programs allow us to provide more extensive and in-depth knowledge of fashion and merchandising for these creative minds."
The Fashion Design and Merchandising Program will prepare students for entry-level opportunities in fashion, retail, and merchandising. This interdisciplinary program allows students the opportunity to develop skills in market and trend research, apparel design, pattern drafting and draping, and clothing construction. Students will further develop basic skills in business and retail management, merchandise displays, and publicity and promotion.
