International Academy of Design & Technology Student Design May be on Camp Bow Wow Shelves Soon

A class assignment may be the launching point for a new pet product.
TROY, Mich. (February 1, 2008) – Camp Bow Wow recently visited the International Academy of Design & Technology for new packaging concepts students had developed for their products. The project provided Academy students the opportunity to receive professional critiques from Camp Bow Wow representatives through a challenging, real-world design exercise that culminated in their final presentations to the ‘client’.
Lloyd Eddy, instructor at the Academy, guided students through the design process and had them all focus on dog dishes as the primary product around which to design. Tasks included visiting a Camp Bow Wow site, product analysis, consumer research, concept development, and professional presentations.
“We were very impressed with all the different concepts that were presented,” said Tony Caruso, owner of the St. Clair Shores’ Camp Bow Wow location. “We are evaluating several ideas that the students gave us. We plan to do a test pilot on one of the proposals with the goal of selling this product line to our corporate office.”
The pilot concept came from Bethany Stenman, a junior-level student at the Academy. She designed a case that would easily allow dogs to carry their own dishes with them when they travel with the family or attend a doggie day-camp. Camp Bow Wow hopes to have prototypes of her design available for purchase at their St. Clair Shores location later this year.
