For example, if you are selling lawnmowers, you may use keywords like "lawnmower", "lawn care", "grass cutting" and "landscape management." Adjectives or brand names can be used to distinguish your product from other items that may be returned in a search. In this case, consider using keywords like "Acme lawnmowers", "Acme affordable lawnmowers" and "Acme lawnmower features."


  • Build links. By including links that drive traffic to outside sources as well as to your own internal content, not only will your blog receive more hits, but users will also be more likely to click around your blog or website to check things out.

    How do you do this? Build URL links to other pages on your blog by linking keywords and keyword phrases. Keeping users on your domain for the longest amount of time possible is the name of the game here. Successful SEO strategies look for unique ways to achieve this. For example, if your goal is to sell barbecue grills, and you are writing a blog post about summer barbecue recipes, you might consider linking a keyword or keyword phrase to a previous post of yours about various types of barbecue sauces. This will keep users clicking around your blog, reading about everything surrounding barbecue grills, all while each post is driving home why your grills are worth a purchase.


  • Write well and honestly. Your content has to be relevant to the product, as well as grammatically perfect. Avoid using run-ons, marketing speak or spammy jargon. Most people become annoyed when they can tell they are being sold something, so try to imagine how to introduce your product and service in a fun, smart way. Unique, grammatically correct content will help you do this, and your audience will appreciate you for it.
