My Experience at PAX ‘11: Chris Irwin, IADT-Seattle

A blog post from Chris Irwin (IADT-Seattle, Game Design, August 2011)

As a recent graduate of IADT -Seattle, I was excited to have my work displayed at the coveted Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). For three days, my work was exposed to industry professionals and game fans alike.

As I greeted people walking up to our booth, I asked if they would be interested in playing any of my custom game levels. Surprisingly, a couple of guys who walked up happened to be some of the developers of the successful game Angry Birds!

As I talked to COO Niklas Hed, I asked him about the game and some common challenges he has encountered. He stated that one of the most important things a developer can do is to work hard and be a creative problem solver. I was simply thrilled to watch him play my level. The whole experience was certainly unreal and it was an honor just to be there.
