Hot Fashion Trends in Wearable Devices: When Design and Technology MergeDid you know that the hot new fashion trends are wearable devices? From smart watches to "connected" contact lenses to Google Glasses, we'll look at some of the amazing new wearable products and appcessories that are now trending.

What's New?

Appcessories are the stand-out new category in mobile technology. And when design and technology merge, the big development is mobility.

Smartphones can now connect with new types of low-cost devices resulting in wearable products, like eyewear, clothing and shoes, that contain sensors with wireless communication technology and storage.

Here are three examples of how technology and fashion design have merged to create the newest—and beautiful—wearable devices:

1. The Up Band by Jawbone

This is a beautifully designed, flexible, wearable computer in the shape of a wristband. It tracks relevant personal information, such as how you sleep, move and eat, and then helps you to use that information to feel your best. It's a complete system that takes a holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle.

Available in many different colors, the Up Band can (and should!) be worn 24/7. Hidden connections and patterns in day-to-day activities eventually emerge through the app and the home screen becomes a dashboard for your daily life. It even has an idle alert that reminds you to move when you've been inactive for too long!

2. Google Glass

The genius of the revolutionary Google Glass comes down to great design principles. It has managed to combine Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, speakers, a camera and even a touchpad in an elegant wearable device. The state-of-the-art eyewear even includes a tiny finger-sized screen. Simplicity and elegance, innovative design and a combination of strength and lightness are the key features of this cutting-edge wearable device.

3. The Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

Technology giant Samsung is rolling out its first-ever wearable device, the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch. Their reinvention of the humble watch is set to become one of the stand-out 21st-century wearable devices. Great design is the hallmark of this stainless steel watch, which is equipped with a 1.9 megapixel camera and 70 popular apps. It also allows users to make and receive hands-free calls and check texts.

When it comes to the top future fashion trends, fashion trend analysts are predicting that the merger of design and technology in wearable devices is the big development to watch.
