Have you ever wondered what goes into the computer programs you use every day? Computer programmers work on instructing a computer or a program on how to perform a task. While it may sound simple, programmers have to understand a variety of languages used in programming as well as understand the logic of the computer program. While there is no better way to learn computer programming than in a classroom, here is just a taste of what goes into programming.
The first question anyone has is, “What is a programming language?” A programming language is what is used to actually write the program itself. The program is written as a series of human-understandable computer instructions that can be read by a compiler and translated into machine code. Understanding programming language is as complicated as understanding any other foreign language. A layman may be able to pick out certain words or phrases but would have no idea as to the context in which they were used and therefore pick up no meaning.
Much like foreign languages, programming languages have several varieties that differ from one to the other. Some of these programming languages include:
- Visual Basic
Along with understanding programming languages, it’s important for the programmer to understand the logic of the computer. The logic is essentially the backbone of the computer. A programmer must prepare the logic of the program depending on all of the resources that the programming language allows before ever starting the actual coding process. He or she may even prepare a flowchart for the program or write an algorithm to help with the logic.
