Want to learn more about the roles of creative, design, or technology professionals? Join us at IADT-Seattle’s Career Services Week. From May 6th to 9th, we’ll be hosting a variety of events focusing on local design and technology marketplace trends and practices. You’ll get a chance to explore Seattle’s entrepreneurial community of independents, start-ups, artistic cooperatives and incubators.
Here is the schedule of events.
Monday, May 6
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – Interior Design: Industry Professionals
Classroom presentation by interior design professionals. Each will present projects to the class and share how they would to a potential client. A question and answer period will follow.
Tuesday, May 7
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm – Career Services LinkedIn Workshop
LinkedIn is a powerful networking tool and one that recruiters and hiring managers are using to search for employees. Laura Nielsen, Campus Director of Career Services, will share tips on how to use this networking tool in your job search.
1:00 pm to 4:30 pm – Fashion – Indies and Others Showcase
Seattle leads the nation in green and sustainable programs, including a special focus on the growing concept of creative cooperatives. Guests will include fashion design alumni, a small business representative, and online fashion business owner.
5:00 pm to 6:00 pm – Career Services Internship Workshop/Orientation
This workshop is Step One on the Internship Checklist required for registration into the Internship Class. Career Services has put together a workshop that will help you prepare for your search.
Wednesday, May 8
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – Graphic Design: Agencies, Freelancing and E-lancing
Professional and portfolio development will be discussed through the lens of contract and freelance work. A creative agency recruiter, a freelance designer will present best practices and materials for landing and succeeding in freelance work.
Thursday, May 9
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm – Career Services Internship Workshop/Orientation
Career Services has put together a workshop that will help students prepare for this important aspect to their educational program.
5:30 pm to 7:00 pm – Game Production: Alumni in the Industry: Hashbang Games
The Hashbang art team, led by IADT Alum Peter Johnson and three other game production graduates, will conduct a panel discussion about developing design and art for an indie start-up game company. The trailer and game will be demonstrated followed by a Q&A session.
