A group of IADT-Las Vegas Graphic Design students recently snagged a plum assignment: designing and executing the creation of the awards booklet for the American Advertising Federation-Las Vegas' 2011 ADDY Awards on March 26.
Don Pitzer, Graphic Design program chair and instructor of DESIGN 275 (Creativity in Design), coordinated the project for AAF LV. Students Jessica Scanlon, Jackson Edwards, Pablo Rodriguez, Adam Smith and Nelson Woodard teamed up on the project.
The prestigious ADDY Awards are bestowed upon the "best of" examples of creative advertising produced by Las Vegas-area advertising agencies and graphic-design studios in the previous 12 months across a host of categories ranging from TV to interactive media to direct marketing. The full-color, multi-page piece the students designed features the winners of the Best of Show, Gold, Bronze and Silver Awards.
Tasked with creating a theme for the booklet, the students brainstormed and came up with "A Taste of Creativity" - a "yummy desserts" theme - and then designed all the visual elements, handled all production, worked with the AAF LV committee, and packaged all the files to be ready for final print.
At the awards show, the students will be acknowledged for their creative work in front of a full audience of Las Vegas-area advertising, design and business community professionals. What a fantastic showcase for these students, their work, and IADT Las Vegas' Graphic Design program!
