IADT-Las Vegas Fashion Students Design Custom Prom Dresses for At-Risk Teens

March 23, 2011 IADT Las Vegas, IADT General 1 Comments

Fashion students at IADT-Las Vegas are donating their time and talent to giving 15 at-risk local high school students an opportunity they likely don't often have: to be the belle of the ball.

The IADT designers are creating custom prom dresses for these deserving students, chosen by school administrators and faculty for making good decisions, earning academic accomplishments and showing exemplary citizenship amid challenges and adversity.

In addition to the IADT students donate hundreds of hours designing and sewing the dresses, fabric and materials were purchased with funds generated through a paperless bill campaign by NV Energy in collaboration with the Nevada Public Education Foundation. Another community partner, General Growth Properties (owner of Fashion Show, Meadows and The Boulevard Malls) is donating $100 gift cards to each girl for shoes, accessories and make-up.

The design process culminates in a special event on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. at the Fashion Show mall runway when the girls are invited to participate in IADT’s Student Designer Showcase to model their prom dresses.  Check out the video preview below!
