What happens when an NFL star with his own fashion line teams up with a design school? A design contest, of course!
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Ike Taylor, who lives in Orlando, wanted ideas to help his fashion line, Swaggin University, appeal to a youthful, college demographic. He turned to IADT-Orlando to help find the next hot designer for his brand, which is all about having confidence, understanding your strengths, knowing who you are and simply having a unique style.
Students in IADT-Orlando’s Graphic Design and Fashion Design and Merchandising programs were challenged to submit designs that reflect Taylor’s brand philosophy. One winner was selected from each program: Graphic Design student Valentina Capriles (see her designs below) will receive an internship opportunity at Swaggin U, while fashion student Daniel Armstrong will have the opportunity to freelance for the fashion line.
Congratulations, Valentina and Daniel! We look forward to seeing more of your work!
