During New Student Orientation, IADT-Seattle’s Career Services Department invites employers that have positions available that work well with class schedules to campus to recruit and meet new and current students. One of the students that took advantage of the opportunity of the mini-job fair was Kelsey Bozlee, a BFA Fashion Merchandising student.
How did IADT’s Career Fair influence the direction you took as a professional?
Having a career fair on campus would have been the only way I would have applied for a job at jcp. It took me meeting and talking with the talent resource team and finding out more about the position and company.
What is your current title?
What are your everyday responsibilities on the job?
I educate the team members and staff about fashion, trends, trend forecasting, body types and textile knowledge. I am also asked to present information to groups in meeting settings.
What do you do to stay inspired creatively?
Follow designers. Read about them online. Follow fashion blogs. Read Women’s Wear Daily, InStyle, and Vogue.
What do you consider your biggest professional success since starting this job?
I was one of the 15 chosen from among 500 fashion experts to attend a special event at the jcp home office in Dallas. The purpose was to hear more information about this new position, participate in a photo shoot for a training film, and to meet the CEO and hear more about his insights about his vision for the company.
