Get the Most out of Your Trade Show Display

Out of all the promotions your company will do throughout a year, perhaps the most important are the trade shows. At trade shows, you will have opportunities to interact with people who are actually interested in the types of products or services you offer. If you do well at a trade show, you'll attract customers you might never have had the opportunity to reach. Here are some tips to get the most out of your trade show display:

Attract a Crowd

Because you have a better chance of interesting someone in your product or service when there's more people standing around your booth, it's worth the time and effort to brainstorm ways to attract a crowd. Get creative. Use your display board to ask an attention-grabbling question or make a shocking statement. Allow people to interact with your product.

One of the best ways to attract a crowd is to hand out free gifts. Whether it's a pen, mug or keychain, people are going to stop by your table if they know they'll be walking away with something free. Giving away snacks is always a good choice - especially if you're on a small budget. Always remember to include your company's name and contact information on everything you hand out so people will know how to contact you even if they don't pick up your card.

Spruce Things Up

An attractive booth will help people feel more confident in both you and your product. It stands to reason, then, that sprucing up your booth is a small thing you can do that could end up paying big dividends. Because visuals are always more eye-catching than text, try to include a large, attractive visual. If you don't have enough money to purchase stock photography, you can always create your own. You can also create a PowerPoint presentation set that runs on a continuous loop.

Get Contacts

Because each contact is a potential sale, do your best to get contact information on everyone who stops by your booth so you can follow up later. One of the best ways to get people to give you their contact information is to simply ask for it. Make a habit of trying to get at least get a phone number or business card from every person that you talk to. You can also accumulate contacts quickly by offering some sort of giveaway or raffle where entrants need to provide their contact information to enter. Consider making the prize your product or service.

Sell, Sell, Sell

While you should collect as many contacts as you can, your number-one goal at any show should be to sell your product or service. Remember that the best prospects you have at a trade show are the ones who already know about your product and have come expecting to buy it. Take advantage of this opportunity by giving these customers what they want and offer deals only available at the trade show. Also, offer coupons or discounts to other people who stop by so even if they're not ready to buy at the show, they'll be more likely to buy later.
