IADT Interior Design Student Honored at Northwest Design Awards

April 2, 2012 IADT General, IADT Seattle, Interior Design 2 Comments

Congratulations to IADT-Seattle Interior Design student Joyce Xia on winning second place in the student category of the the 13th Annual Northwest Design Awards.

Designers, architects and students competed with projects in 14 competition categories, and a panel of  industry experts evaluated submissions through an anonymous process, measuring each project on the basis of proportion, composition, use of space, materials and appropriateness of the design solution.

Xia’s project was to create an interior for a townhouse purchased as a vacation home and potential future permanent residence for a client in Mexico.  Her goal was to provide a cool, yet not dark, interior for the warm weather as well as to create a space that would be comfortable and easy to maintain.

See her winning designs below.

You've mastered the rendering. Your drafting skills were great even in our first class. Great job.

Joyce let me first say Job Well Done! I love your use of mixed colors on the dinning room chairs! The design for the fireplace was awsome! Bravo on the Boat Bed! My kids love it! They each want one, so my question is how much to get one? Last but not least, I would like to offer you a design column for my magazine! Please email me some contact information so that we may talk about your future. I would also like to know how to follow your designs, do you have a facebook or twitter page? Please be sure you share this information with us! I'm sure I wont be the only one keeping a Designer's Eye on you! Congrats on a Job well done!

What do you think?
