What a difference a show makes! IMAGINE definitely made a difference in San Antonio’s fashion scene. The designs were nothing less than stellar and every model was dressed to impress (check out our photos!).
IADT-San Antonio’s 4th annual IMAGINE Art Show and Fashion Runway Event rocked the Grand Hyatt on March 31 in downtown San Antonio. The Ten Show, a special graphic design showcase, led off the night featuring 10 graphic design portfolios of IADT-San Antonio’s top graphic design students. Guest speaker Juan Barrera of Blue Clover spoke to attendees and students about the current state of the industry and motivated creativity in each of the designers.
Next up was IMAGINE’s Fashion Runway Event hosted by the lovely Shirin Askari, designer on season six of Project Runway. The catwalk featured designs from six alumni designers and eleven graduating student designers. A special portion of the evening was dedicated to a tribute for four members of the IADT-San Antonio family who passed away in the previous year: former instructor and fashion guru Ronald Kolodzie, instructor Cyndi Hatfield, and students Carla Viesca and Dania Jasso.
Proceeds from IMAGINE will support the Career Education Scholarship Fund, which awards need- and merit-based scholarships to qualified students who are attending one of its many participating institutions. Since its inception the Career Education Scholarship Fund has awarded more than five million dollars to help more than 5,000 students realize their dreams of a college degree.
IMAGINE’s other beneficiary, Eva’s Heroes, was founded by actress and philanthropist Eva Longoria and board president Christiane Perkins-Garcia. Eva’s Heroes helps individuals over the age of 14 who with intellectual special needs to integrate and flourish in society.
Fashion for a cause is a mission that just makes sense. Our students and staff were happy to be a part of this magnificent showcase. The professional graphic and fashion design industry just gained an amazingly talented new crop of designers. Remember their names – you’ll see them on boutique racks and works of art very soon.
