I Got Into This Field Because … We turn abstraction into logic, illusion into reality. In the new digital age, we don’t just create art. We design and program. We aren’t limited to marketing and packaging. We develop products and services.

What I Love About Teaching Is … The new generation of designers! They are most comfortable bouncing between both sides of the brain, continually fascinated with the ‘how’ and the ‘why’, and fully engaged in perfecting their artistic ability to influence, motivate and change peoples’ lives.

I Got Into This Field Because … I love video games. I love the ability to enter another world and explore and adventure and play. It is escapism at its best. I love books for the same reason, but video games go that one step further and let you guide the story. I started making games because I wanted to make more of the games that I enjoyed.

What I Love About Teaching Is … The absolute best part about teaching is working with students and seeing that light bulb turn on when they finally figure something out. It is just awesome. As a teacher I am there to guide and mentor and help, but in the end, it is up to the student to grow and learn, and when they do … it is amazing.

One Thing Most People Don't Know About Me Is … I moved to Hawaii when I was 18. Didn't know anyone out there and just wanted to try something new. I spent about 8 or 9 months there. Worked at T.G.I. Fridays on Kuhio Ave. and stayed the majority of the time in a hostel about 5 feet from the beach.
