Extraordinary Seamstress & Fashion Design Educator Connie Almaden-Crawford to give a seminar at Academy-Seattle—November 7th, 2008

Seattle, (November 6, 2008) - The International Academy of Design & Technology in Seattle (Academy - Seattle) has announced that the seamstress and fashion design educator Connie Almaden-Crawford will hold a professional workshop at the Academy's Tukwila campus from 11:00am—1:00pm, Friday, November 7th. The public is invited to attend at no charge for the 2-hour workshop.

Connie Almaden-Crawford is a licensed designer for the McCall Pattern Company under the Butterick label. She is also owner of her own business, Fashion Patterns by Coni. Academy students are already very familiar with Connie's work--Her textbook A Guide to Fashion Sewing is currently being used to teach them patternmaking, sewing and draping. Connie is also the author of several other sewing and pattern textbooks, including The Art of Fashion Draping and Patternmaking Made Easy. She is well known on the lecture circuit and makes appearances at sewing, quilt, and art-related organizations, conventions and expos. She has also been a featured author in specialty magazines such as Sew News, Threads, and Sew Beautiful.

Connie's workshop at the Academy-Seattle will focus on helping participants develop the technical skills of speed and accuracy and the industry techniques that are necessary for fashion designers. She offers step-by-step methods of teaching comprehensive, yet efficient techniques for garment design, fitting, and construction. This special workshop will take place Friday, November 7th at 11:00am on site at the Academy-Seattle campus in Tukwila, 645 Andover Park West.
