IADT Fashion Design Students Create Designs for Grammy-Nominated Singer Stefani Montiel

Artist has selected the garment she will wear19 for award show

SAN ANTONIO (January, 19, 2010) — This Thursday, January 21, the International Academy of Design and Technology (the Academy) - San Antonio and Telemundo-KVDA TV will unveil the three designs selected by "Best Tejano Album" Grammy nominee Stefani Montiel for her trip to the awards show in Los Angeles. The "Proyecto Divina Runway Show" will be held at 7 p.m.at Rio Plaza San Antonio (245 E. Commerce, Third Floor, 78205). The San Antonio public is invited to attend and tickets can be purchased for $20.00 by calling 210.507.5885.

A number of design students from the local Academy submitted their designs, ten semi-finalists were chosen and viewers of Telemundo-KVDA TV voted on their favorites. Montiel will be showcasing the two winning dresses for events before and after the upcoming Grammy Awards, with the top garment being worn during the award show. The elite celebration will include a fashion show featuring the designs of students from IADT-San Antonio, along with a ceremony honoring Montiel for her Grammy nomination. Attendees will include special celebrity guests, Academy students and staff, and representatives from Telemundo.

About Stefani Montiel
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stefanie Montiel released her first single at age five. By age nine, she had recorded her first album, "Angel Baby."" Since her early start, Montiel has graced the Tejano music scene with her presence and vocals, recording albums including "Todo Mi Amor," "Porque Soy Mujer," and "Dulce Sensacion."
