Academy’s Fashion Show Benefits Shriners Hospital for Children
SACRAMENTO (March 23, 2009) – The International Academy of Design & Technology (the Academy) will host “IMAGINE 2009,” an event that will benefit Shriners Hospital for Children on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Sacramento Grand Ballroom. The evening will be hosted by Camille McDonald, season two contestant on “America’s Next Top Model.” Robert Best, season three contestant of “Project Runway,” will be a keynote speaker that evening. The show will feature eight student designers presenting full collections. There will also be a special segment during the show entitled, “EMERGE,” where 12 selected students will show one to two fashion garments.
“Sacramento has become an important part of the Art and Design Community in Northern California and we at the Academy are thrilled to share our students’ remarkable talent with the public,” said Patti Hoffman, President of IADT Sacramento.
In addition to his television notoriety, Best was recently named Lead Designer at Mattel where he has worked for Barbie Collectibles for 14 years. Prior to Mattel, he worked in NY for such fashion luminaries as Isaac Mizrahi, Anne Klein and Donna Karan.
The Academy’s ‘Fashion Club’ is sponsoring a children’s hospital gown drive that is donating 50 gowns designed by students. General admission to the fashion show benefit is $40.00; or VIP tickets can be purchased for $60.00 which includes preferred seating, two beverages, swag gift bag, and admission to the ‘After Party.’
