'Battle of the Fans' Winners to Perform on IADT Stage at Extreme Thing

March 20, 2013

Students and instructors from the International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) will host one of six stages at Extreme Thing 2013 on Saturday, March 30, and provide “Battle of The Fans” finalists who perform on the IADT STAGE a live DVD recording of their performance. Thanks to IADT, aspiring musicians will have the opportunity to record live multi-track music at Nevada’s largest action sports and music festival, Extreme Thing – for only the second time in the festival’s 18-year history. The recording is courtesy of event sponsor, International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) – Las Vegas.

Nearly 70 local bands participated in Battle of the Fans, organized by XPOZ magazine. In late February, the top 40 bands receiving the most online votes performed at Vinyl at Hard Rock, and 10 finalist bands were chosen to perform at Extreme Thing. Of the 10 finalists, six bands will perform on the IADT Stage at Extreme Thing, including Dead Knot Broken, Be Like Max, Greater Than I, Shifting Sails, Scream the Lie and Alaska!

The winning band will receive a five-day, high quality recording package in IADT’s new industry-current studio, Vegas View Recording, valued at more than $10,000.  The package includes the services of accredited producer/engineer Bobby Ferrari with support from IADT’s advanced sound engineering students.  The five days may not be consecutive and will be scheduled after the winner is announced, dependent on artists' and producers' availability. Additional details such as song selection and pre-production may take additional time not part of the actual recording time awarded.

Extreme Thing is coordinated by Clark County Parks and Recreation at Desert Breeze Park, 8275 Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas. More than 25,000 attendees are expected. Ticket and event information are available online at www.extremething.com.
