Art and Design Schools of Career Education Corporation to Donate $5,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities Thanks to Facebook Campaign

March 21, 2011

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (March 21, 2011) – The Art and Design schools of Career Education Corporation (CEC), a leading provider of career-focused education, will donate $5,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) as a result of its recent two-week Facebook campaign.  Between Feb. 14 and Feb. 28, CEC pledged $1 to RMHC for every  Facebook user who visited any of the four fan pages of the Art and Design schools of CEC and chose to “like” the page, up to a maximum donation of $5,000.

After an outpouring of support, CEC will make the $5,000 maximum donation to RMHC on behalf of the participating schools, which include Brooks Institute, Harrington College of Design, Collins College and the International Academy of Design and Technology.

“We’re very pleased to pledge these funds to Ronald McDonald House Charities in the name of our schools and our Facebook communities,” said Tom McNamara, senior vice president of the Art and Design strategic business unit at CEC . “We’re grateful for this outpouring of support for this wonderful cause, and we were touched by the stories that our communities shared about how they or their loved ones have benefited directly from RMHC’s assistance.”

As part of the campaign, each campus also launched a pop-tab drive.  The tabs will be collected and the campus community outreach manager will take the collection to the local RMHC Chapter for recycling in exchange for the cash value.
After 36 years, RMHC continues to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children.  RMHC and its network of local Chapters tailor these programs to address the most urgent needs of each community they serve through the Ronald McDonald House®, Ronald McDonald Family Room® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® programs, as well as through grants to other non-profit organizations.  When visiting the CEC school pages during the campaign, users were able to learn more about RMHC and the services it provides.

In the fall of 2009, CEC announced its corporate partnership with RMHC, benefiting the organization’s houses in 52 locations across the country.  In additional to monetary donations, CEC students, faculty and staff provide volunteer services to support global and local RMHC operations and programs. To date, CEC students and staff have contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours to RMHC.
